a thank you note

grates

Dear Fouad, the Kind Parking Garage Valet,

Thank you. Thank you for all the positive energy you share on a daily basis. Every morning, for the last two and a half years, as I walk up the parking garage stairs on my way to work you are there with a smile and ‘hello’, a ‘how was your weekend?’ and a ‘stay warm/stay dry/take care’ and I look forward to seeing you.

Thank you for rescuing my earring after it fell in the parking garage grate sunny-side-up and walking it back to your desk to wash it off. While I would rather have avoided the embarrassing incident altogether, I’m so glad it gave me a chance to stick out my hand and finally introduce myself. Your generosity does not go unnoticed and I while I was slightly panicked when you were missing from your post for two weeks I was so glad to hear that you had finally taken a vacation.

In a world full of crazies it’s nice to know there are people like you who are kind. You, Fouad, act as though what you do matters and I’d like you to know that it does. Every small kindness you bestow matters and I promise to follow your example.

Sincerely -

elizabeth

thank you Rebecca. Life’s too short not to say hello. It’s also too short to not say thank you. xoxo
